In 2017, we started to celebrate the National Chemistry week (NCW) and we went to demonstrate several fun experiments to a class of second grade at HAAS, a Charter school in Hollywood Florida. The theme this year span around the discovery of energy (glucose oxidoreduction and the role of oxygen), the periodic table of elements and some molecular models of small molecules (CO2, H2O, O2).
The Office of Undergraduate Research and Inquiry (OURI) started a new showcase initiative of our FAU students that have been successful in research at FAU. Take a look at Charles Shearer discussing his summer undergraduate research fellowship (SURF) in the Roche lab.
Charles also did a Directed Independent Study (DIS) Undergraduate Research Experience in Chemistry and presented a poster of his results at the FURC . Interested in learning about what it takes to become a chemist?
